5. Identifying Potential Signs of Exploitation

Warning signs of modern slavery may include an individual who:

  • Appears frightened, controlled, or unable to speak freely.
  • Has had their passport or identity documents confiscated.
  • Is being paid unfairly or working under threat/coercion.
  • Is living in unsafe conditions linked to their employer.
  • Is unable to leave their workplace or role freely.
Important Notice: You do not need to prove that modern slavery is taking place before raising a concern.

6. How to Report a Concern

We encourage staff, freelancers, learners, clients, suppliers, and the public to report any suspicions of worker exploitation or human trafficking.
